How we grew
Inter Terminals was previously known as Simon Storage Limited in the UK, Simon Tanklager-Gesellschaft mbH (Simon TLG) in Germany and Irish Bulk Liquid Storage Limited in Ireland. Our history can be traced back to the early part of the last century, with the storage facilities operated by Inter Terminals at Immingham on England’s north east coast among the earliest on the River Humber.
In 2005, Simon Storage, Simon TLG and Irish Bulk Liquid Storage became wholly owned subsidiaries of Inter Pipeline Limited, a major petroleum transportation, storage and natural gas liquids extraction business that ranks among the largest energy infrastructure companies in Canada.
In 2012, Inter Pipeline acquired Dong Energy Oil Terminals (DEOT) from a subsidiary of DONG Energy A/S, one of the largest energy groups in northern Europe. Following acquisition, the four large-scale oil storage facilities in the Danish Straits began operating under the Inter Terminals brand alongside the then Simon Storage.
In 2015 the UK, German, Irish and Danish storage operations were brought together under the unified brand of Inter Terminals.
Also in 2015, Inter Pipeline acquired four petroleum and petrochemical storage terminals in Sweden from Koninklijke Vopak NV, establishing Inter Terminals as the largest independent bulk liquid storage provider in Scandinavia.
Today, Inter Terminals tells a story of organic growth, highly focused strategic developments and acquisitions, resulting in one of the most extensive storage networks in Europe. This approach has allowed us to adapt and expand our facilities and infrastructure to the ever-changing needs of the market, and add the complementary services that enable us to offer a comprehensive range of solutions for our customers.
