Simon expands potable alcohol storage for Nedalco
Simon is expanding potable alcohol storage facilities for ethanol manufacturer, Koninklijke Nedalco BV (Nedalco), at its Tyne Terminal in the North East of England. Simon has been providing bulk liquid storage for Nedalco at the terminal since February 2008 and is currently commissioning an additional stainless steel tank to meet an increase in Nedalco’s UK storage requirements. Simon presently provides Nedalco with 1,100 m3 of capacity in five dedicated stainless steel tanks. Once commissioning is complete, the sixth tank will almost double the Nedalco storage capacity.
With its head office and main production plant in the Netherlands, Nedalco is one of Europe’s leading manufacturers and marketers of ethanol of agricultural origin for use in the food and non-food sectors. In 2007, the company expanded its operations in the UK market with the commissioning of an alcohol plant in Trafford Park, Manchester. High grade potable neutral spirit is delivered by road from the Trafford Park plant for storage at Simon’s Tyne Terminal. Onward delivery of product to Nedalco’s customers can either be by road or sea, depending on their location. The Simon Storage Tyne Terminal has excellent road links to the north of England, and is situated on the estuary of the River Tyne, with good sea connections to continental Europe.
In addition to dedicated storage facilities, Simon offers a number of specialist services for potable alcohol customers, including semi-automatic drumming and Intermediate Bulk Container filling, as well as sampling and reduction with demineralised potable grade water. The Tyne Terminal is an HM Revenue and Customs bonded warehouse with high security equipment systems, including CCTV and alarmed perimeter fencing.
Martyn Lyons, Managing Director, Storage Division at Simon Storage comments: “The storage facilities that we have established at the Simon Storage Tyne Terminal represent one of the largest complexes of dedicated alcohol storage facilities in the UK. We are delighted to have attracted Nedalco as a customer of the Tyne Terminal, and look forward to a successful long term relationship.”
