Simon Storage strengthens industry expertise
Simon Storage Ltd (“Simon”) has announced two new additions to the company’s team with the arrival of Shireen El Menabawey as Sales Manager, Northern Terminals, and Steve Shaw in the role of Group HMRC Compliance Adviser. Shireen and Steve strengthen the company’s world class industry expertise and will help to ensure that Simon retains its position as one of the leaders in the European bulk liquid and gas storage industry.
As a trained chemist and with experience in environmental services, Shireen El Menabawey brings a wealth of technical and business knowledge to Simon’s commercial team. She has a chemistry degree from Newcastle University, where she stayed on in a research capacity for two years after graduating before taking up employment with Veolia Environmental Services, first as a plant chemist, then as a technical sales executive.
Simon is also delighted to welcome Steve Shaw, who takes on the newly created post of Group HMRC Compliance Adviser, enhancing the company’s in-house technical expertise. He joins Simon with specialist experience from his 20-year career at HM Revenue and Customs, which culminated at the Unit of Expertise, LBS Oil and Gas Sector.
Steve will be responsible for advising Simon on its compliance with the complex UK duty and VAT regime legislation and his sector-specific knowledge means that he will be well placed to advise Simon on the services which it provides to customers.
Simon has also announced that Commercial Manager, Chris Tanner, now takes overall responsibility for the commercial function of Simon’s Seal Sands, Riverside and Tyne Terminals. This follows the retirement of Rex Bradshaw as Commercial Manager, Teesside Terminals, after 20 years of service with Simon. Reporting to Commercial Director, Paul Oseland, Chris will be supported by Shireen El Menabawey as the newly appointed Sales Manager for the area. Chris and his team will continue to work closely with current and potential customers to understand their requirements and design appropriate storage solutions to meet their business needs.
These new appointments will help ensure that Simon Storage maintains its position as one of the leaders in the European bulk liquid and gas storage industry.
